Educational games are now emerging as next generation blue ocean.


The Koean online game contents are now introduced in Education market.Some of the edu center starts their online lecture when playing game and the other make the game contents using educational issues.

Almost experts are saying that educational game markets will reach to valuable market which can be profitable of couple of million dollars with in 2 or 3 years.

As i posted and introduced that one of the representative education institutes is Korea Univ where recently made their presence in Secondlife.

and even a famous english hakwon (which means private school or educational institution), Chungdam english school had made their innovative content, Talk Virtul with T entertainment where is being as korean locational provider of Linden Lab
For People have their owned head set, they can be joined in English class in the virtual presence. Also, they built up their virtual language lab in SL.



It seems to be working well. because as well known about korean's intense aspirations of english learning trends, they will become like crazy using game for learn about language. it's more fun and easy way to learn.
That's especailly true as virtual space for learning simplifies the process greatly, making it a casual experience instead of a real boring school stuffs as younger generations used to be in online game in S. Korea.

Korea Univ have launched their own islands in SL





What a glitz and glitter day that one of the finest university in S. Korea have their presense in Secondlife to educate student in Virtual World.

AKA Virtual KU(korea Univ) campuse in SL was developed by korean community, Sera Korea sponsored by T-entertainment company and they would started their virtual class from 2nd March.
Oh damn i just missed their class in SL... lol

However, the island of KU is simply well made and mocked up their real site. So any one from various countries could experience the Korea Univ, virtually
That's the delightful way to exposure their name and let students come and know how Korea Univ looks like :-)

The representative from sera korea, Mr park announced to public that they will keep add more educational service on the site and establish the intergrated educational solution. i am so expecting with those.
In addition, Korea University will extend the technology to students in Second Life, by creating interactive video lecture that help students grasp tough and tedious class.

MCST budets for Virtual World until 2012

MCST ( Ministry of Culture, Sprots and Tourism Republic of Korea) announced that they are going to foster Virtual World Platforms and Contents as strategic industries on 8th Oct.

well it's just hard to wrap up the whole range of their announcements. however, i will try.

There are 5 field specified for this issue.
CG (Computer Graphic) industry, Digital Virtual World, Convergenced contents of Broadcasts and networks, ubiquitous education contents and Virtual Contents will be fostered until 2012 with investing 650 billion won ( about 500 million dollars in us$).

Because they expect that the market with those industries aggregate US$ 5 billion in 2012. At the same time, much of the money is being spent on education, tourism, traing and new economic sectors meant to enhance international competitiveness and create new 130k jobs in Korea.

Moreover if i focus on part of the Virtual world plan, they have couple of plan developing 4 more gates including Sungnyemun(" Gate of Exalted Ceremonies" ), Virtual Tour contents and Virtual Government service etc.
Even a private organization will be included for create new virtual service sector.
An estimated cost will be 30 billion won ( us$ 22 millions ) .

SL Business Needs Reproduction in case of S. Korea.

After Cyworld had released their new 3D service, Minilife, Korea also have been rised attention to 3D space service. Infact, 3D virtual world craze had already swept the world wide last year. The Second Life that represents Virtual World, had numerous global companies made thieir own presence. Even a couple of them make great business across the Second Life.

Well I think that the reason why the 3D virtual worlds brought sizzle to the world then come into the spotlight as one of the next generation technology, because, 3D Virtual Worlds are more exellent than traditional web in case of information publishing and we can carry out the economic, cultural and educational activities with making with user generating contents. That means already many informations had accumulated on virtual area based on web, then that the suitable way that we can produce it more efficiently is 3D virtual world, Second Life.
Therefore Second Life's most uniq factor is rather data we make sense, efficient communication and virtual economy system which is available to change virtual currency to real currence than brilliant 3d graphic stuffs.

Ofcourse in a stance of client or enterpreneurs, they need to concern about practical application rather than theory due to the needs of tangible achievemen. But when introduction of new tech, it is often concerned as trend not tech. that's why catching a changes of technology is so important. There are frequent occasions that we can't take a Tech as ours easilly, when someone use the tech. because, it is usually reproduced as suitable tools according to the certain circumstances.

In the event of google, who brought sizzled to the world, take a possession of 5% in the korea domestic internet market.
and even a Ipod of apple swept off the world MP3 maket, 70%, only share the 15% in korea domestic maket.

Because Korea domestic market show their difference with global there are needs of reproducing new tech. I hope that we can see the various company bring up the new market after they discovered the pratical trend in case of leading industry uses such as Second Life.

3 Competitive 3D Virtual Worlds Growing Attention in S.Korea

In South Korea, There are 3 Virtual worlds started competition to become a main stream on virtual worlds industry.

Today, I would like to show you 3 emerging virtual platform in S. Korea then give my reviews and explain the trends of them.

First of all, it's a flash based 3D service. MINI Life developed by SK Communicaton where publicised the cyworld. As SK Communicaton released this service for subsidiary business of Cyworld, the 3D based virtual life burst into korean's attention.



Secondly, I want to urge one of new stylish world to you, NURIEN which is going to begin public releases to you within Sep. AS you can recognize that the graphic is so astonishing ever seen before. because NURIEN has intergrated the Unreal Engine 3 of Epic Games.

That's why they can show highly matured graphic with whole range of detailed motions. I heard that NURIEN had already gained US$ 16 millions from Series A, when they participate on GDC 2008.


Last but not least, It goes without saying. Many people already well know that one of the most representative worlds, Second Life, would be recommended.



Although Korean seems not quite showing interests on SL, i guess that SL would be totally emerged as main virtual platform after proper localization by opensims.

Recently, Subscribed users of Mini Life had reached about 2.5 millions. but I don't think wheather Mini Life would more burst their growing.

There are alot of Korean using Cyworld.
About 90% korean under 30's have their accounts within Cyworld.

Beside, SKT where not only for most influencial communication service firm in S. Korea, but subsidiary of SK, still back up on SK communications with Cyworld.

Moreover, NURIEN's recent opening is also showing the Virtual market would become more competitive.

Truth be told, NURIEN is not kinds of Virtual platform like SL. it is more close to games.
It is almost made up of games, however i can get a virtual space individually after joined on NURIEN.
but there is noting to do with people except dancing through my avatar.

(Yet, we barely can find out the female user.

I mean, NURIEN is still on beta services but they invented their sevice not like SL, just add Virtual World concept on traditonal dancing game.


They have a plan adding more games user can enjoy such as quiz game enjoying quiz with others and runway playing fashion show with customized avatar, but dont even have a space to meet and chat with other users with out game space.

According to ETNEWS, however, Linden Lab's korea branch, currently have about 150k korean users in SL, and will establish their marketing aggressively .

ACID Mall opens on Korea Town.



Finally, The ACID CREBIZ unveiedl their own shops, ACID Mall on SL.
Already, lots of people heard the opening of ACID Mall then coming here to see the great assortments of fashion stuffs.

Beside, The Group of the best of SL Magazine had spreaded the words on SL, then the news spread so fast.

SL users around the world are still coming here to see what is going on.
Lavished the praise on ACID Mall's work.


ACID Mall is situated in Korean Town now. When you visit in Korean Town, have a sightseeing around and take a look on wonderful fashion items displaying within the shop.

Virtual Disputes going on SL Between Korean and Japanese

It's been a several years, since there was the serious dipute of a small islet's territory between Korea and Japan.
When Japan decided to describe Dokdo ( they call it as Takesima) as their own soverignty, this issue started to fully accelerated.
Even the Korean President Lee Myung-bak on Wednesday (July 9) seriously urged Japan not to describe Korea's easternmost island of Dokdo as part of Japanese territory in Japanese textbooks, during his meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda on the sidelines of the Group of Eight summit.


Then you know what happened in SL related those diputes??


I'm not so sure, unfortunately,
But i saw the wierd article from RL that saying,

( the Bus invaded in Dokdo islands in SL )

one of the black bus was arrived on one islands named dokdo in Second Life( it's been presented in there about one and a half year. ) then started to do wave Japanese's flag and diturbed the residents in there.
Actually, I guess that SL Korean user is wasn't even reach to 30k before this issue conflicted on SL
After the owner of the Dokdo islands had publicly banned the users who invaded and made some problems, he snaped into a drive to raise funds for protecting islands, Dokdo then successfully made about US$ 4500...

( SeraKorea is doing camp events on the pretext of emerging diputes on Dokdo territory )
Therefore, People started to realize that Second Life could be a possible disputy stage for international attentions. Many Korean real media began to refer the SL that cyber disputes is going on virtually. And about 100k (may be.. i heard that SL newbie increased for ten times than before so that i estimate it.) were joined in SL to participate in the name of Guards of Virtual Dokdo.


That's why SeraKorea which is one of provider for Korean SL user had Dokdo presence on SL.

Still alot things is going on there between users from Korea and Japan.

Truth be told that I also am one of Korean guy, I hope so that the Dokdo islets be clearly defined as Korean territory.
Not that kind of serious conflicts, just want to make reasonable discussions over the territory with Japans' stance.

Sungnyemun

There are couple of representative korean sites in SL. And now i' d like to show one of the most well made structure.

You just can see and look around more replications of Korea capital, Seoul, as soon as tp to Korea Town 2 in SL.
However, Sungnyemun (" Gate of Exalted Ceremonies" ), is the main south gate of the city wall. It was first built in 1398, rebuilt in 1448, and renovated in 1962.
Sungnyemun is also known as namdaemun, and S. Korea declared that it is 'National treasure NO. 1 ' since 1962.

unfortunately, one crazy man had sprayed paint thinner on the floor of the Sungnyemun then set fire to it. cuz he was so upset that he couldnt receive the enough pay for property he sold out.
That's why he decided to set fire on there.
SOOOOOOOOOO~~ ashame on korea...





The NO.1 Treasure was vanished by Damn stupid old man.
I still feel so sad that we lost National Treasure NO.1 named Sungnyemun so that every korean people is so disappointed.

Although Sungnyemun is still under reconstruction, we can meet the korea's boastful treasure on Korea Town in SL.

Sungnyemun is situated, then just go and take a look.
You would discover the National Treasure No. 1 which is so completely restored as same as it was.

Gyeonghoeru

Hi folks ~ !
Now, I want to introduce one of the great sims in SL.
Actually it's been ranked on popular place list vanished as showcase came up instead. 
Any how it still remains as very impressive sim to Korean and world wide residents in SL.



Actually, the real Gyeoghoeru looks like above.

But, ACID CREBIZ, Korea's first virtual world specialist company had made that best stunning replication of Gyeonghoeru in Secondlife last year earlier. 

The Korean royal heritage site, Gyeonghoeru, was made in era of the Joseon dynasty.

"King Taejo, founder of the Joseon kingdom and builder of Gyeongbokgung palace, had this pavilion erected in this man-made lake in the western section of the palace. He named it Gyeonghoeru, or pavilion of Joyous Meeting. It is now the largest elevated pavilion in Korea. King Taejong(r.1400-1418)commissioned Park Ja-cheong to supervise construction on the pavilion and the lake. Minister Park built a square island supported by long stones and construct the larger pavilion. Forty-eight stone pillars, sculptured with dragons, supported the second floor."

Top Asian cosmetics company AMOREPACIFIC is launching in Second Life on January 31st at 10pm PST. They will become the first Korean beauty company in Second Life, and are leading a significant new Korean wave into Second Life.

This project’s scale, user orientated services, contents and design standard make this one of the most notable corporate builds in Second Life.

On AMOREPACIFIC’s island five brands are represented: Laneige, Mise En Scène, Hera, Sulwhasoo, and AMOREPACIFIC.

The Company hall charts the history of the company, starting from scratch soon after Korean independence and rising to become the global company it is today. In the Laneige hall you can have a high class make-up simulation experience and view promotional videos starring Korean celebrities. The Mise En Scène hall offers total hair care in the virtual hair salon, and you can watch short Indie films in the cinema. Hi ma name is Yoojin and I'm a korean
First of all, I'm really greatful to be posting here about what i think of
especially, I'm workin' in the part of IT.
and my favorite area is the Virtual World, including Second Life etc.
but still as all the people may know that
Korea is one of the biggest market in Virtual World but we haven't established the
advenced site like a Second Life which was evolved for development in the business area.
I think that SL is really, totally innovative creation for way of BS in the future.
but Korea doesn't look like to be participated in those stream to belong to innovation.
AS the one who really is interesting in those VW stuff, I'll post alot of info concerning how korea market in Second Life is processing and what korea's Virtual World corp and comunity
have possibility in this field, as much as i can.
Some thing might be wrong with my mistakes and my misunderstood.
but i would really be exhilarated by posting on the website and plunged into blog ocean.
(actually' i've got a korean blog in Naver.com however i mean it to be part of Blogger.com)
Since i began to work and research in Virtual World with exploring every single SL's blog,
I 've dreamed Making a Blog as part of famous expertised blog based on Virtual World and Second Life..

Second Life finally launched their official service in korea from 25th, January in this year.
Korean from Global Corp to private Community began to search their new possiblity of Virtual market.
Linden lab is also pointed out Korea as one of the biggest challenge due to the infrastructure of korea and nationality. so that Linden can be early leader of virtual world market with standing upon a rock named korea, firmly
i can see that we could be share many info and opinion with global people in second life.
Second Life will be a daily space to mingle with alot of friends around the world.
until then i would make source and info from korea, south toward the world SL blog
associated with interesting and funny stuff in SL korea.
